DORCAS EDUCATIONAL CENTER

MMI is helping the construction of a rescue center for the children of Mali in Africa.  Many of the children living in Senou do not have a home.  Some of them are orphans and others are living on the streets due to disrupted family life.  The Center’s main goal is to provide housing, education, and supervision to homeless children presently residing in the streets.  A great number of young children in Senou are not attending school, because they must spend their days selling or begging on the streets.  The Dorcas Educational Center is a solution to care for these children and to afford them a brighter future.

The Christian Church in Bamako had the vision to provide this safe home for these children.  In 2005 a piece of property was given by the mayor of the area to help out the children in his sector and in November 2006, the construction started.  We now have a concrete wall around the perimeter of the property, we have a well dug and in January 2008, we started to build the dorm that will house 120 children.

Pastor Christophe Dembele from Bamako is heading this project.  He has extensive experience in Child education.  He is a church planter and president of the association directing this project.

The Christian Church of Mali needs partners to realize this project.  Most of the churches in Mali are still in the planting stage and could not possibly support such a project.  The churches are struggling because their members are extremely poor.  MMI has agreed to give 100% of your donations toward the project.  An official income tax receipt from Atlantic Missions Inc. our financial covering organization will be issued at the end of the year.
